A New Life Through A Sober Living Transition

Our story begins with the testimonial of Terry Hoffman, the founder of Abundant Grace Ministries. After farming for several years in Indiana, Terry ventured into unknown territory becoming a businessman in San Diego, CA. Although successful at first, God’s warnings through many events sent Terry’s business ventures into collapse. In trying to save a man-made empire, Terry committed bookkeeping crimes that led to Federal incarceration in 1991. During God’s “time-out”, a small still voice led Terry to peek into a Bible. Beginning in Matthew and not understanding what was written, Terry pushed forward. Then, God through the Holy Spirit opened his understanding (Luke 24:45 KJV). John 14:6 KJV “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” led Terry to become a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17). Easter morning 1991 Terry experienced salvation, an unforgettable born-again event remembered 30 years later.

Terry left prison with a thought that he learned later was actually a line in the Kris Kristofferson song “Why Me Lord” -- “Maybe Lord, I can show someone else what I've been through myself on my way back to you”. Quiet at first, God led Terry into testimonials, studying, teaching and preaching. Led into the senior and handicapped ministry, preaching to nearly 200 listeners weekly, Terry never lost the desire to do more in showing others the path to go -- the narrow road “that leadeth unto life” (Matthew 7:14 KJV). In 2019, Terry became involved individually in Redeemed and Restored a christian-based drug rehabilitation facility. This became the main outreach ministry of Abundant Grace Ministries. Seeing the need for continued assistance after a 30 day program, an unused medical building was purchased and converted into a Christ centered apartment style assisted living program for men. The building became “The Ark”, a container of peace and safety while transitioning into a Bible-based way of life as a “new creature” and a “child of God” in becoming a “man of God”. Born is Ark to Peace.
